Skeletons Make Things isn’t just an online store, it’s an idea and a lifestyle.
SMT was founded by two like minded teenage girls who valued their time and freedom of expression. In high school, a friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) and Rhia started making jewelry, art, and clothing to try to sell and make some cash on the side. As the pair grew older, their partnership faded into the single person project that exists today.
My name is Rhia Black. You can usually find me under the names Skeleton Feet or Skelly. I am a self taught multi media artist. I will try any craft once, and that mindset has led me on a journey of creativity.
My story started in Colorado where I spent my summers playing outside and reading fairy tales and fantasy books. Later in life, I became more interested in the fine line between reality and the life we live inside our heads; and how fragile that life is. The fantasy books I looked at and the horror movies I would secretly watch led me here.
I will try to make anything. I sew, crochet and draw. I mainly sell my digital artwork, jewelry, and paintings. My artwork revolves around the reality I want to live in. I try to create the things I wish I could have bought ten years ago or the things I wish were real to everyone else.
I aim to live my life for myself. I started Skeletons Make Things as an escape from reality and a way to create an independent and free life.
